I hit it.

Yeah I take the kids and switch it over to Kilometers! Uncle Vic got up to 220!!!!
I had one of those "hatch vents" which holds open the rear hatch about 2 inches. I was "cruising about 115mph and my "usually conservative" wife starts saying, "go faster!" The thought did cross my mind as I still had lots of pedal left... but, the thought of the downforce on my rear hatch made me think twice as the glass was already "vibrating". While most people get their car up into the (triple digits = 100+pmh) for short amount of time because of other traffic or road conditions, I was able to cruise at 115+ for about 20 minutes. After awhile you start getting used to going that fast - and it started feeling like "regular" highway driving - the car handled just fine! I'm thinking one day I'll have to just open it up all the way.... but first I'll have to trade in my Cobra radar detector for a Valentine!

...Kill stories are absolutely NOT allowed and it seems everyone has a huge problem with street racing, BUT ... Hey shutup! Are you complaining that we can't brag about being thick-skulled nincompoops? I guess I better just sign off now and never return!
I'm saying, we're not allowed to brag about street racing against someone, but yet we are allowed to brag about racing solo on the street up to top speed. The mods just aren't logical with this one...
Personally, I think we should be able to write about anything we want without any consorship
BTW 153mph
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I ran at 125mph for several minutes last year on a wide, flat, deserted section of I-15 in Utah.
It felt very much like about 65....smooth, effortless, quiet, stable.
Went 110mph on Saturday on a forum run on a short stretch of deserted, but narrow and bumpy moutain road and frightened the whee out of myself.
That's fast enough for this old crock.

I said Dad, you don't know how much I appreciate this phone call!
Read your first post in this thread...look in the mirror...look at your daughter and tell yourself again how safe you are. Gotta call
Maybe you won't do it again. But the rest of us have to share the street with your daughter.
Do you think she had a little left in her?
Not sure. I think the problem is between the steering wheel and the seat.

How about this, I went to NHRA Nationals here in Kirkersville this past weekend and these guys were doing 330 in the quarter mile. Talk about a ride. I keep wondering how they keep their cars planted in the center without losing it.
Even
people drive Corvettes. Read the posts of this ridiculous thread for proof. I'm just trying to be the voice of reason in an otherwise irresponsible thread. You posted your experience to the world and invited comment.
I'm not sorry I couldn't give ya the pat on the back you were looking for.
IMHO you screwed up...LARGE! The damage is done. I just hope for your daughters sake that you don't get a visit from the local constabulary in the wee hours of a Saturday morning after you gave her the keys to the car on a Friday night. Don Henley and all of the 70's & 80's poets you admire so much won't be of any help then.
For an inexperienced driver (first timer triple digits) to do so with a passenger...on the street ... instead of the track...and then brag about it...
Safe? No. No one is safe at triple digits and 30+ mph over the posted limit especially if they only have one hand on the wheel (assuming you were actually courteous and waving).
Live and let live? Not on public streets and highways. That's why they are regulated with LAWS. But otherwise good advice...you might try it for yourself. Take a little personal responsibility. Demonstrate for your daughter self-restraint by example. "Do as I say, not as I do" didn't work for your parents. What makes you think it will work for you?
Selfish indignation doesn't look good you either. But then you are in the midst of a midlife crisis... Put the keys to the Vette down, slowly back away and nobody gets hurt. Then for the love of humanity seek professional help! Your answers aren't in a "Go Faster" car.
I've had my '72 Datsun to 135 mph and it was damn scary!!!!
Fastest ever was 145 mph in my Ford Taurus. It was stable, but not like the 'vette.
