Default Goodbye bread basket, hello...

I am looking for the best replacement for the bread basket in my 89. While it does serve as a nice conversation piece, I would prefer to replace it with a more refined look.

Can you please share with me pics of your solutions. Searching the archives and online vendors, the only idea I have come across is a mate black faceplate for $50.

Now that is very interesting. I also have the carbon fiber dash but it was done by the previous owner. So, I don't where he bought the kit and figured it would be impossible to match when replacing the bread basket. Your setup looks very similiar and might be a match. Where did you purchase from? How much? This may help me out big time!

I got mine from Florida Auto Trim a couple of years back. Contact a Teresa Todora, phone: 1-800-881-8388, e-mail ttodora@flautotrim.com. A business I work with (I do their website), Corvette Center LTD, has been using them for years.

When I replaced the breadbasket on my '87, I wrote a Tech Tip on it. Here is the Tech Tip.

When I replaced the "bread box" with a flat panel on my 87, I bought a bright Red "CORVETTE" rear bumper logo and stuck on it. Looked nice (to me). BTW, my interior was Red. Or you could use a hood or fuel door emblem to spice it up. Either way would look nice in my estimation.

Here is a pic of the modification to the 88 Coupe when I owned and modified the breadbox to a flat panel. The kit came from Ecklers in Florida. The red "Corvette" lettering also came from Ecklers.

Well, I put in the $50 plastic panel from Mad and am not happy with the results. It looks cheap IMO (don't want to offend any1). On a good note, RamJetVette's Tech Tip was extremely helpful with the install.

Anyways, I am still looking for alternate solutions. Down $50 and a Sunday's worth of labor.

I would love to find the same panel that JrRifleCoach put in. If anyone knows of a vendor that supplies this insert, please let me know.

More pics please...

I have a 93 but I was always curious.................why is that bulky item installed in the dash? I like the member on this forum that upgraded to a 91 dash.........real sweet install, if I were that member I would sell a kit to do it. A buddy of mine upgraded his pro street 79 T-birds interior with one from a 95. It took a couple of weeks of work
