Well, my luck finally ran out. My 89 Vette was rear ended yesterday as I was going to work. A very old man in his 80's wasn't paying attention to stopped traffic and smacked right into me at about 40 mph.
There is some frame damage also, because I noticed that the passenger side rear wheel sits in about a 1/4" and the driver side wheel sits out about the same.
Luckily there was a Police car right next to me and saw the whole thing. My Vette was also, pushed into the car in front of me and my front bumper cover was pushed 1/4" up onto my hood.
My son and I just got done cleaning the Vette for the Christmas weekend. Oh well, I'm just glad nobody was hurt.
i know how you feel i just got nailed monday so i can feel your pain. i am glad to hear noone got hurt. but some people just dont pay no attention to what they are doing. the lady that hit me decided she wanted a chicken sandwich from the chic fila whether i was there or not causing 5,000.00 in damage and probably didnt even realize it yours i'm sure will be well over that. either way good luck and get her checked over well
Sorry to hear that man. Glad you and your son are ok. Some times in traffic the things that scare me the most are what I see in the rear-view mirror. Hope your vette will be fixed up soon!
Sorry, must be the season, lots of stories going on, just got mine back. The only other thing I can say is make sure the shop is your choice and they have a good reputation and vette experience.
Thanks guys, I'm fortunate enough to work off and on at my friends body shop (his work is very high quality) and I'll be helping him with the body work.
What's depressing is, I just got done painting the front and rear bumper covers a few months ago.
I estimated the damages at about $6000.00 including the time spent at the frame straighteners.
Everything will be back together better than it was in about a month.
i know how you feel....such an idiot of biker got of the road and hit me at the left wheel...damage was not sas bad as yours, but still 5000 Euros.......now im waiting for his insurance to pay the money....
I bet you dont have frame damage, it usually takes MUCH more damage to do that. Most likely you have a control arm bent, you should back on the road in about a week. Good looking car!
