Default Mudflaps

I'm almost afraid to ask. However, laying on my back with polishing compound is getting old.

Mid America has no modification fit small mudflaps, or stone guards. They are pretty small, but big enough to help some.

So, here's two questions:

1. Do you think they are ugly
2. Do they work.

On the right car you may barely notice. The way the shadows fall on my polo green car you really don't see them and they do a fantastic job of keeping the rocker panels free of chips.

I don't know that I would have put them on the car, but they were on it when I bought it, I really didn't even notice at first.

Make your own - My dad made a set for his 87 roadster, mounted between the fender well and the fender, only about 2-3 inch extension, nearly invisible, but ctahces porbably 80% of the crap that would otherwise end up on the fender.

just kidding. Seriously though. The rock guards don't look like they belong there, but at the same time they protect the panels from being beaten on... and from having molton rubber chunks from sticking to the car. Once I get my 11" rims back there I'll install some of those... maybe make my own... who knows

I've got the Lexan tint "splashguards" on my dk red 87. They are big and they catch just about everything. The only bad view is directly from behind, because you can actually see them from that angle (elephant ears come to mind). MAD also has smaller ones that are clear plexiglas. I had them, but they are brittle and one of them cracked. They are smaller and less unsightly though. I saw a CE with the molded guards, they were painted to match the car, and they looked pretty good that way. I had seen the molded guards on another car just black, and the effect was nowhere near as good.

get the molded ones, paint them to match the car, and you'll hardly notice them.

For what it's worth...I made small mud / stone guards for my '87 using thin lexan. I cut them on a band saw from a cardboard template I made. Once on the car they're almost invisible. I made front and rears. They're great if you're into showing. They remove easily when you get to the show. The rockers are as clean as if you just washed them.

I've also thought about putting them on. Not thrilled on the way they look, granted if body color they would look ok. The rockers would look even nicer without all those stone chips.

Rick, you got pictures? Are they the molded style? From your sig they appear to be painted to match.

But put some Cleartastic on underneath because they will wear the paint off the quarters.

I have the Altec and they are the best looking ones.

I also have regular C4 mudflaps from Mid America on my other car to keep most of the rubber off the quaters. (I need longer ones since it only blocks about half)

I`m going to put the mudflaps on my `Vette, at the same time I put on the Lund windshield visor ( lighted of course ), & the new bug-shield for the hood.

Ps. also on backorder are the lighted fuzzy dice, terrycloth steering wheel cover, fartcan mufflers (lighted of course), underbody neon kit, & the racoon tail for the antenna.

Pss. saving up for the hydraulic kit to make it into a bouncing lowrider

I bought a car yesterday that has a set of molded ones on it... They look OK... I never thought I would like them but I think they will look really good painted the car color... And they will save some paint work after the 17X11s go on it

These are the only shots I have handy of the Altec.

The one shot at the track is my '93 with the regular mudflaps on them(you may have to zoom in to see them).
