So guys Ive got another drag-strip challenge. Why my cousin wants to race me Im not sure?? He bought a 2003 Caddy DTS with the NorthStar V-8 which has 300 hp. He thinks that he can beat my 96' auto LT1 300hp vette. I think the guys crazy. I should be able to walk all over him. Your thoughts??
P.S. does anybody know what the 0-60 and quarter mile times are for the 2003 Caddy DTS???
My mom has a '03 DTS with the 300 HP Northstar and I drive it instead of the Vette whenever the weather is bad. That Northstar is incredibly smooth and powerful but in a car that heavy there will be no comparison. If your Corvette is anywhere near as fast as mine then you will have no problem giving it a beating.
isnt it FWD? those cars have tires on them to ride well and be quiet not to drag race so he will probably loose traction fairly easily if he is able to turn traction control off (i am assuming it has it)....you should be able to easily take him in a lighter car with much better traction

??? I swear I saw this locked earlier...

how about that??? it was a dupe earlier...
How bout this... Darth Vadar's C4 vs. every car on the market??? Who will win??? Just face it dude your car is slow otherwise you wouldn't feel the need to compare it to every damn thing that rolls on 4 wheels.

all things equal the FWD driving wheels will not be able to provide as much forward motion. even with traction control it will not overcome the physics of weight transfer to the rear.
add weight, and all the suspension slop the energy goes into before allowing the car to move, the conclusion is elementary.

Yeah, on my long gone FWD drag Honda, I was using regular street tires and I was cutting 2.4 sec 60' times before I properly learned to launch it using even 1.5 way Kaaz LSD in the transmission. But now on the Vette, I could probably use cheap a$$ tires and "launch" it way better than most FWDs since I know the transmission has factory LSD and is RWD. Gotta love RWD!

A what ?? The biggest caddy they currently make ?? Yeah some race I'll run the thing and have my car in park with the engine off and the keys under the passengers floor mat when he leaves the line and even with all of that I'll still drive by him. Why don't you mod your vette a little and be done ?
Now for a bit of thruth. The Northstar is no wimp. It's 32 valves like to sing up high. I'm not saying it will beat your car, but it will surprise you. Also the DTS has a 130 mph shut off. Not like most other caddy's that shut off at 112 mph. With the speed limiter off it will do 150+.
