That would be VERY cool. In and out with the 4 bolts on my 91 is a royal PITA. My dad's 87 roadster just has two quickflip handles and down goes the soft top.

I thought the reason it bolted down was because it is a structural component and its not on a C5/C6 which is why they get to have a quick release

Whatever happened to a totalnincompoop? He was looking at getting a patent before he sold these then he just disapeared.

He had some pretty cool ideas. He made a couple of awesome carbon fiber under the hood pieces for himself and bogus but never offered to sell them.

Yeah, that's the last I recall too. He didn't want to post the design and was figuring out patent and mfg costs.

I have a coupe and a vert... No comparison as far as switching from top to topless... the targa deal is way too labor intensive,I don't know what they were thinking... T tops were way less hassle than the C4 targa top...

Ok guys just a thought here...the design that craftsman tools uses for there rachets to hold the sockets on untill you push the button could be modified and made to work on a targa..are you with me? a peg with a crome ball at the end that retracts into itself with a push of the button just make the peg long enough to reach threw the factory hole and then extend the ball, untill you pushed the release button, and the rear could use a machined stud to fit into the rear slot/hole...just a thought..something for one of the members to work on this winter when he aint out driven...Dave

I would definitely be in on that deal! I would buy that product in a heart beat. I wish someone would make it. That targa top removal takes way too long!

As soon as someone invents a quick release for the targa top, then we'll be looking for someone to invent a gadget that lifts the panel off and stores it automatically for us We really have to buck up a little here guys. After all, we're talking about four stinkin bolts! There are people out there that would use a torch to cut the bolts off just for the priviledge of driving a Vette. I guess I'm just so pissed that it's 7 degrees outside and I needed to vent a little.

Well, I don't mind the 4 bolts, only takes me 5 min with the rachet. After 12 years of ownership of my vette I am use to it.

I was just curious what ever came of it

I would be really interested in a "quick release". The targa is not THAT bad, but a quick release would be great!
