also call and talk to em and say hey i wanna buy this but I need a better deal if I am going to buy.
trust me they can drop about $100 with out flinching.

Now see...that's exactly what I'm talking about. You don't work for EM, you're not a representative of their company. Where in the hell do you get off telling somebody to call them and haggle prices, saying that you know "they can drop $100 with out flinching," ?!?!? My God...

any price is set to change!
for instance....
I have called EM before reguarding a dana 44 pumpkin
And told them hey I think your price is too much blah blah blah and with a little going around they dropped the price $150 I said Id get back to them and then looked else where.

so yes they can...they would not like to advertise this...
mention you are a corvette forum member and were recommended by a fellow member and would like to refer them to someone else if they do right by you.

you are right I dont work for them But i dont know how to haggle!
all in all they would rather work with you than not have your buisness at all.
your friend
Sean

also more performance did this to me as well.... on an AC elim bracket
origional price..$169... I got it shipped to my door for $149 just for asking whats the best price you can give to a CF member? and they said well hmmm never had ne one ask that let me go ask someone...he came back and said we can give it to you for 139 plus shipping.
thats $30 off the price!

hey it never hurts to ask

whats the worst they can do? say no?
exactly!

Check with Tony up at Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg. Also, I don't believe the sniffer test is required in MD for vehicles prior to '95.

I had my '94 emission tested in Gaithersburg, MD less than a year ago. they put it on rollers and used the sniffer. I stood there and watched them do it. Pre95 cars don't get plugged in as far as I know. I even asked the guy, and he said that his computer tells him which cars to sniff.

No, Perf, you're kinda right, but good friend Sean is kinda right, too. Depending on who you talk to and when it is, everything is negotiable. Believe me. I just talked to a major Corvette parts place (don't want to give out their name right now-not fair to them). I was buying about $180 worth of stuff, not thousands of dollars. I told them, I wanted to buy one other thing but their price was about 20% more. Their response?

OK, we'll give you a "club price for everything, take off 10% on everything and not charge shipping---does that bring it down enough?" Are you kidding--I did it in a heartbeat. Plus, I had a good feeling about it, and them. You just gotta ask, sometimes. Or tell 'em you're gonna wait.

In hotel-speak it's cold a "room night". Once that room doesn't get leased on one night, that is lost revenue---you can never make it up. When someone calls or writes, once they log off or end the call, the sale is almost always gone. There are hundreds of sales courses that teach that fact of selling life. It's up to us to know it and ask for the price.

I've walked out of major department stores with refirgerators for discounted prices below anything listed or contemplated by the sales staff.
