Default Hydraulic clutch question

I have a '96 LT4 CE with man. trans. which I only drive occassionally nowadays; it has 160,000 miles. The last time i drove it the clutch was fine. After sitting in the garage for two weeks I started it and went to put it in reverse and there was no clutch pedal pressure and the clutch would not dissengage. I assume this is the result of loss of hydraulic fluid in the clutch. Questions....is there an easy way to replace the fluid? and is repair of this problem likely to be expensive?

The fluid is in the master clutch cylinder .
Its located under the ECM. (Electronic Control Module)
Its easy to remove the module and check or add fluid.

The master or slave or both clutch cylinders may me leaking.
Its a common problem.
I changed my slave cylinder twice last year and I only have 33 K miles on my car.

It has happened to me twice as well. Remove the PCM that sits right over your battery. You will see the small master cylinder below it and against the firewall. Just refill it with some dot 3 or 4 brake fluid then pump the clutch a few times. The pedal feel should gradually come back after a few pumps. GM does offer a specific hydraulic clutch fluid but brake fluid seems to work fine in these. Not to mention its about double or triple to cost of a bottle of brake fluid.

Default One More Question

Thanks for your help! Is it necessary to bleed the line after adding fluid to an empty master cylinder?

if it is just an empty master, just pump the clutch pedal a few times with the reservoir cap off until no more bubbles.

not to scare you, but i hope your tranny is OK. any extended length of time running with a clutch problem (including very low fluid) can damage the synchros on the ZF6. i think my 3rd gear synchro has some damage after running with low clutch fluid for probably about a month.
