Some time ago there someone posted some pictures relocating the battery under their c4 behind the rear axle on the cross member. I had it saved but have since had computer problems and have lost them. Does anyone have any knowledge of where I can find any of this information?
arn, i am going to put a fuel cell back there and am going to heliarc a couple cross braces under neath and between the frame to mount it. could also mount a battery box as well. jus a thought
I used to have a tech tip posted to relocate the battery to the storage compartment behind the pass seat. It is no longer posted in the tech tip section I see.
Basically, I found that a Optima Red top fit perfectly back there. Used a basic battery tray, and new hold downs. Ran LARGE gauge battery cable back to the old location. Found a marine battery post that was insulated so I could attach the original battery cable to the new cable witout modifing the original cable. For ground, I ran a short cable back to the frame. I even found a large 150 amp circuit breaker that makes it really easy to disconnect the battery by flipping a switch.
Just make sure you get clean firm connections and it works great.
I don't remember writing an article, but here's a couple pics of my rear mounted Optima battery. Basically a couple metal trays from PepBoys, threaded rod, and a guy to weld the upper tray to the rear X-member (leave space for the fuel lines). Got a heavy 0-gauge wiring kit from Summit and ran it to the starter.
