Default Can someone ID this cam?

I believe it may be an older CompCams grind for an LT1. I tried calling that silly tech help line but nearly died waiting for a rep.

If you can download their "Master Cam" catolog you can look up grind #s for lobes 3314 & 3315. That will give you the lift at various rocker ratios and duration in degrees as advertised, @.050 & @.200.
The 12+4 is that the cam was ground with 112 Lobe Seperation Angle(LSA) and it's 4 degrees advanced(pretty much standard practice).
I don't have the catalog handy tonite or I'd look up the grind specs for you, if you don't have any luck tomorrow I'll try to locate my master sheets.

Good luck,
Dave

If that is a Comp Cams custom grind it is a 224/230 ground on a 112 LSA with 4 degrees of advance. The lift specs are .536/.544 with 1.6 rockers. These are their extreme cam lobes.

How did you come up with that information from those numbers?

I looked up the lobe numbers in my trust Comp Cams master catalog. The rest was easy:

HR12 = Hydraulic roller with a 112 LSA

+4 = 4 degrees of advance

How much power are you looking for? That cam should be able to push 400-450 chp with 1.6's. However if you want a bigger cam then maybe 3192/3194 lobes with a 112 LSA. They are the same 224/230 dur but have .567"/.584" with 1.5's as opposed to .503"/.510" with the cam you got. Those lobes would have .605"/.622" with 1.6's. That would be a mean cam even in a 383.

You know you're absolutely right. I wasn't thinking about the different ratios. My bad.

Rocker ratios, I was only looking at 1.5:1

I think the cam you have would be a great cam, with 1.6's or even 1.7's. What are you doing to the heads?

Larger valves are being cut in. Manley necked down valves. Heads were already ported and further cleaning up and blending is being done. Port matched to an LT4 intake. The spring pockets are being cut for Comp Cams 986 dual springs 1.43 dia. these are the springs to match the cam. I think the cam with 1.6 rollers will be sufficient. I could go on with other stuff but you get the idea, pretty much nothing but all high perf. stuff.

The bottom end will be all forged 383 H-Beam, with ARP mains, rods, and head studs.

Sound good?

I just wish it was my car we were working on.
