Reluctor ring? If you're talking about the distributor, the '96 LT1 uses optical electronics for it's spark control.
Yes, I'm referring to the distribtor. I thought the '96 LT1 had a reluctor ring on the crankshaft, between the sprocket and hub. This ring has four slots in it to trigger the sensor that is mounted in the bottom of the timing cover. Please let me know if I'm wrong.
i believe the 1996 lt1 does have the ruluctor ring...the LT4 does.

I checked my shop manual. It does have the reluctor ring. What I wanted to know,is this part he same in a '96LT1 as in a '96 Vortec
engine? I'm building an engine for a'96 coupe and I need this part.
I have one from a '96 Vortec engine.
you might call your local chevy dealer and ask the parts man, he'll probably check it for you
It should be but you better double check. All of them are 4x signal types but the actual OD maybe different between the LTx engine and the Vortec truck engine.

That was my main concern, are they the same size? I will check with Bill Heard Chevrolet in Columbus Ga. on Monday. If anyone has any info, before Monday, send it on.
THanks!
