Will Hypertechs really only work on 1 car?
If you were going to buy one new for a 1994 LT1, where do you buy one and how much is it going to cost?

Summit has probably the best prices for them. However what do you need done on your PCM? I can probably do a custom tune for you cheaper than a HPP tuner costs
Unless you just want one where you can put it back to stock whenever you like. Typically these hand helds are very generic. And about the only things they are good for is changing fan turn on temps, gear ratio or tire size changes and shift points if you have a A4 car. Otherwise their so called performance tune is tweaking the timing tables a couple degrees and taking some PE fuel out at WOT. Which may or may not equate to any true power gains. As for getting a used unit. It is BUYER BEWARE, especially if you buy it off Ebay. The reason is because if the owner didn't put his car back to stock, then the programmer won't work for your car. And seeing how you are getting it off Ebay there is no way you can check before buying it. The only way to do it is to do it in person. Where you can try it on your car to make sure it works.

I bought one for my Silverado, puked on the programming and told me the programmer needed the newer version software, tried to get Hypertech to tell me how to fix it and they said "tough sh**" you didn't buy it new so you're stuck. Wouldn't even let me unistall to try it on another vehicle, that's just F'd up. They are the worst people in the world to deal with, no help at all...unless you pay the $350 for a new one.

By the way I tested them things on my dyno, and the gains were miniscule at best. The one customer I sold one to, I had to return. But I also told him if he didn't like I would take it back. But in the end I did a custom tune on his PCM and got a dyno session out of him and he got 12 Hp from me that the Hyper-Crap box couldn't deliver
The engine programming in some cases ,if you have mods to your engine will make the car slower.
Rear end gear changes and tire sizing helps, but if you get the numbers wrong the car will just spin the tires or not spin them at all.
I would spend my money on tts,Datamaster or tuner cats , LT1 edit.
I use the hyperpuke for fast adjustments to the trans.
