Default Water pump???

I have an 85, it has the reverse rotation water pump to go along with the serpentine drive correct? Anybody have any recommendations on a water pump to run?

I believe you have a standard direction pump. I dunno for sure, I think th e LT-1's were the only reverse cooled motors,

While Smokey Yunick was after GM to go with reverse cooling for many years it wasn't until 1992 with the LT1 that they finaly did it.

Our L83 and L98 C4s have the standard coolant routing, as opposed to the LTx "reverse cooling", but our serpentine belt driven water pumps rotate in the opposite direction of the "V" driven water pumps.

As the others said, it's standard rotation. If you want a cheap replacement, just go with the real GM pump. It's not that expensive. Otherwise, Flo-Cooler makes a nice one (it's what I have, though I haven't gotten a lot of miles on it).

If you want a stock replacement pump, I have a low-mileage take-off that I can sell you dirt-cheap.

Corvette have a short snout, reverse ROTATION waterpump. I went with a flow-kooler brand pump when I did mine. New pump dropped temps 10* over the old pump. Flowkooler is a higher volume pump than stock. Appeared to be a very nice pump, but it's only a water pump afterall.

I put the link to the EXACT pump you need from flow kooler. It will tell you everything you need to know, even if you don't buy one from there.

If the majority rules, you will end up with the wrong pump. Too many people pick up on a term like "reverse cooling" and think they know what they're talking about. Listen to JCAIRE2.

Living in the ne part of the country, we do not have alot of hot summer weather. I use an airtex pump. It is a gm pump in the box with the casting number ground off. $50 instead of $200 from gm. Never a problem......yet

I put a flow kooler pump on my 88 about 6 years ago. No problems yet. I made the mistake of buying a cheapy for my 77. Lasted a year. Learned my lesson and only buy factory or high performance replacement parts.
