DANA 44 Question...
Looking for anyone who might know the answer to this...
GM (apparently) doesn't make new DANA 44 cases even though the part number exists in part manuals. I thought that I read (somewhere) that some of the JEEPS had used the DANA 44 third members.
Is this true?

Yes, The Dana 44 was used by Jeep and is a popular upgrade from the dana 35 used on many newer 4wd vehicles.
However, it is a standard rear end and not an IRS like the Vette Dana 44.

If you need a case check out Newmans Car Creations. They are the only ones that are currently casting new D44 cases for the Corvettes.

I forgot to mention, these guys are pretty proud of these cases. So if you are wanting one of these, be prepared to pay the price. I inquired about them and if I remember right they are around $1300 or there abouts.

TJ's correct Newman's wants $3550 for a cover, and the rear with gears installed. For a couple of thousand more you could buy an old manual C4 and part it out and be dollars ahead.

junkyard and ebay are the only way in my mind....
I think this is great with newmans car creations because if enough people buy them dana 44s could acctually start to come down...
and then used dana 44s from car creations..
