ok heres the deal my keyless entry it not working. i'm guessing its not the keypad because it is fairly new and i can open the hatch with it. But one day that whole walk up to the car and it unlocks thing stopped working. I tried to reprogram the pad and when i tried the final step of putting the pad close to the car to have the light in the car stop blinking, it did nothing.
So any ideas as to what can be wrong? is it the keypad, the car or what? oh my car's a 1994 6spd Coupe.(in case that helps).
Please help me i can't go back to useing a key.
I had to replace the PKE module in the dash of my 94 LT1 6spd and had to get new fobs as the ones that came with the car were dead - not just the batteries either. Have you checked the battery in the fob? If you're getting to that point in the programming, it's probably the fob battery or the door antenna since the hatch release function is working. There is a PKE antenna in the door and hatch on coupes.
If I recall correctly there is a way to set the Passive part out of the PKE so it does only work with the buttons. It should be in the owner's manual on how to do that. If you're trunk release works, the perhaps just pushing the unlock buttons will work too. If you're getting that far in the programming of the reciever I would suspect the FOB. Perhaps the motion sensor in the FOB is broken.
YES!!!!!!!!!!
ravenlunatic you are the best. come to find out the I turned off the PKE. . I guess getting those service books would be a good idea.
Thanks to everyone that helped me out.
My keyless entry system stopped working on my 1994 Corvette, replaced battery, reprogrammed twice and still not working. do you think the transmitter is damaged and should is it possible to buy a new one.

This is not a yes or no answer. There are a lot of questions to be asked and answered so we can get a picture of what is going on and go in a positive direction.
These threads can get long on the PKE problems and it would be best to start a new thread for it.

It's also explained in your owners manual. Although, it makes no sense that you weren't able to reprogram the fob.

Why do you think you don't have the same problem as 94blue6spd? Have you tried turning it on? Your transmitter (fob) appears to be OK if you could reprogram it.

You cannot set the system to work only with the buttons. It does not work with buttons. There are no "lock" buttons on the PKE, and the door button unlocks the passenger door only.
