Default Installing connecting rods

If you haven't had your stupid question for the day, here it comes. I'm rebuilding my '91, again, and have purchased new pistons and connecting rods. The pistons are pressed pins, and I'm unsure how to connect the rods - are the pins literally pressed through the rods, like with a vise? Is the rod end heated prior to the pressing?

Sorry, but I've never done this......probably should go to a machine shop to get it done, but I'm still curious as to how it's done.

Thanks, in advance.

Take them to a machine shop or someone who has done this OFTEN. It is unbelieveable how easy it is to bend a rod pressing on the pins.

I agree totally, take them to a machine shop. The use a special rod heating fxture that is similar to what is used in industrial applications when we have to heat a bearing up to slide over a shaft. Then the machine shop has special jigs that hold the piston and installs the pins into their exact resting position in the rods.
