help please..ignition problems on LT1
hi all
i post this question for a friend of mine
he have a 93Trans Anm, speed density LT1
after the car has been sitting for a period, it hardly want to start, backfires, coughing, finally runs..like on 5-7cyli´nders, bogging, no power, aso
wanted to hook up datamaster, i get in the ecm, but fall out immediately....just got random numbers...
no SES codes are present, or able to read out, just 12
im tending towards optispark...
hope somebody will help me (him)

It sounds like an opti spark. But first check the ignition coil tower for carbon tracking and also the coil wire. Use an ohmmeter if you have one to check the wire resistance which would be about 1500 ohms. It is most likely the opti unit. Can you connect to the ECM with datamaster with just the key on in the run position. You should be able to datalog in that position to see if there are any DTC's.

tried zo connect datamaster with enige running, failed...
than i "flashed" out the codes with the paperclip method...12
i will check the wire to the optispark and let you know what happened...
