I am ready to put the fuel rails back in and begin the rebuild. I have a 89' L98 that is basically stock. Injectors went bad and I am replacing them. Novice mechanic but this has been fun...except for getting the EGR out and working the fuel rails out. Only busted my knuckles twice.
Here is what I am not sure of. Are there torque specs for:
1. Fuel rail bolts
2. Runner to Plenum
3. TB to Plunum
Or should they just be tight.
I know I need a manual and just placed my order so I should have it going forward but need some help now.
I'm going to replace the EGR and clean the plenum and TB before reinstalling. Is there anything else that would be good to replace at this time.
Don't take it as gospel but I believe the runner bolts are 15-20 ft/lbs.
Fuel rail bolts don't matter, no sealing going on there, snug em up.
Throttle body..not sure, but I use the same tq as the runner bolts.

I did the same on my 90 Vert, I also installed a new EGR since I was in there, clean the Plenum, Throttle Body, IAC Motor, and I put in a new thermostat also since it hadn't been replaced as far as I new.
Good Luck - it went back together pretty easy. I just made sure everything was tight and have had no problems.
Thanks guys. Appreciate the input. Now time to put it all back together.
Be sure to coat the bolt threads with anti-seize. If you don't you may need dynamite to get them off later. Any steel bolt screwed into aluminum should get coated, even spark plug threads.
I have an 89 also and recently replaced the injectors. While I was in there, i replaced ther EGR just because. I also found some intake manifold bolts loose. I replaced the intake manifold gaskets just because also for peace of mind. Saw a little oil pooling in low spots.
Throw away those tork bolds and get some hex head bolts. I got mine from a hardware store. You will see what I am talking about when you torque them.
Good wrenching!
