As you can see in pics the 2149's have plenty of plug wire clearance even with the EGR tubes.
What model hookers do you have? Maybe you need different plug wires with 90 degree angle boots like these accel's.

so with my 89 I would have to ditch the smog stuff if i ran the hookers? also what do the hookers run for an 89 auto?

I Have Those Headers But My Heads Are Aftermarket Vortec And I Think Thats Why I Have A Slight Clearance Problem.

exactly. I had the same problem. put some high temp wires on, with some nomex or kevlar or whatever boot covers on. it'll be ok
