Default Headlight acting screwy

My drivers side headlight is acting very weird...

It will open up... then quickly close about 1/2 way, then go back up, and repeat the process sometimes 3-5 times, eventually stopping. It either stops perfect, or slightly angled downward.

When trying to shut off the headlight, it rotates back 1/2 way and gets stuck.

I'm not sure what exactly is going on, but my first inclination would be new bushings from what i've read.

I can make a quick video if anyone wants to see exactly what its doing...

help!

Default its the bushings

I had almost exact same problem, do the bushings and as long as you are there do the gear, its probably worn.

I would think about the gear, except this whole headlight assembly is less than two years old ALREADY. A deer hit me and wiped this whole assembly out two years back. It just doesn't make sense unless something was damaged that was reused....

you sound suprised they might have reused a bad part...

I agree, it's a mechanical problem inside the light. It's not a hard project, just takes a couple of hours.

Parts are cheap, too. About $30.00 total. If even that much.

Well, thats not a problem, i'm pretty mechanically inclined. I just replaced the passanger mirror glass myself.

Got a link to where i should get them at and exactly what i should get?

Default Link to How To

This shows you pretty explicitly how to do it.

Here's what you need but you can probably find it cheaper if you look around. The plastic gear would probably be fine.
