Is it possible to correct the speedometer on a 92 if I run a rear gear ratio that is lower than 3.73 (i.e. 3.92 or 4.09)
The car currently has the stock 3.54 gears & dana 44.
I may be mistaken, but I believe that to go lower than 3.73, you must get a new "drive" gear as well. It's located on the tailshaft. This operation is quite a PITA. I put 4.11s in mine and had to do this. The other alternative is to purchase a Dakota (sp?) black box to trick the ECM to read the right speed. I'd do that if I could do it over again. Just my $.02
BTW, call Exotic Muscle..they put together a drive and driven gear combo set up for a 4.09 (was close enough for my 4.11)

Coming from 3.54's the drive gear won't have to change. Neither will the VSS. That's why I responded,
