stopped by the shop today to check on my baby. Gary has been having troubles matching the paint even with the right RPO code. i am sure it's cause the original paint has faded but when the car is cleared on the old stuff it looks awesome! so now the car has to be REpainted so it will match with the original paint. no big deal i trust Gary's work! he has a camera to take a pic of the original that matches the paint perfect so i am sure of his skills since he's been doing this for over 30 years.
sorry about the quality as these are taken from my mini dvd camcorder with no flash
he did suggest having the car totally repainted but not at this time due to finances for the other projects i got going. another problem he was having is the old clear coat kept peeling back once he was stripping it. where the old paint and new paint go together you can not tell at all because the clear coat. i can't wait to get her back either tomorrow or tuesday with out clear coat peeling all over the place and the car looking as good as when i bought it at 32k in miles
I had mine done at Paul's Auto Body on Veterans. They did an awesome job with the color change. The guys who put the car back together left a little to be desired though...
I need the same done to my 87 ... orginal paint but the nose, top of the rear, and between the top and hatch need to be touched up and the clear on all of the car needs to be redone. Paint is actually in good overall condition ... just doesn't have that 'new' bling to it.
