Default Need Help Fast

The rear monospring on my Vette snapped on the driver side, right above the exhaust.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening, and if so, is there a TSB on this so I can have Chevy pay for the replacement?

Any and all help will be appreciated!!!

TSB does not = auto Freebie
Recall = Freebie

With that said what year car and how many miles are on it? Your signature says you have a '95 GT.

Default I own

My Corvette is a 1996 with 63000 miles on it. I had no idea that my sig still shows my old 95 Mustang GT.

Thanks for trying to help. Where can i find copies of the TSB's at?

One other thing, anyone out there using the Vette Brake and Performance Sport Rear Composite Monospring? If I end up having to shell out for a spring, I want one that will hold up, not wanting to go through this BS again.

Here's where to check if there was a recall on your spring

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/

Just fill in the year, make and model etc

Default Thanks

There are no recalls for the spring, so when Chevy called, I was floored. They want 599.99 for the spring, 225.00 for labor and then tack on 55.00 for a front and rear alignment.

I ordered a sport spring from Vette Brakes and Products for substantially less. I was told to nurse the wounded warrior home and replace the spring myself. I am very mechanically inclined (replaced the front suspension, rear suspension on my Mustang, motor work, etc..) so this should be a no brainer, right?

Six bolts, the four in the center and the two on the end. How hard is it to stretch the spring from one side to the other? The guys at VBP said this should be easy as hell. Never seems to go that way with me, though.

Be careful. The spring often breaks shortly after caustic cleaners are used. Otherwise they are usually long life items. Thought I would throw this out there in case you just cleaned the undercarrage or suspensions. www.contemporarycorvette.com is a great place for used items.
