85 Steering Rack replacement

Corvette lovers!

Just a quick question about the steering rack replacement. I am rebuilding my entire suspension and was wondering if I could put in the "sport" steering rack that is available for the vehicle at Pep Girls or Kragen. Is this part of the z51 package? Is there anything different or that I need to know about changing it?

I did that same swap

I asked for the quick ratio one, don't know if they called it a sport or Z51.

The quick ratio goes by both sport, Z52 and Z51.
Get a good rebuilt unit, the cheap ones will reuse inner tie rods that are nearly worn out.

It is the Z51 steering rack. The Z51 option had a quicker steering ratio than the standard steering. I replaced my standard, with a standard. If you want quicker steering, go for it. I'm pretty sure they don't "ding" you for the up grade on the core return, like they would if you tried to give them a 283 engine core for a rebuilt 350.

My 86' has the quick steering ratio in the RPO as a Dealier ordered option. I would think they are interchangable.
