Another Throttle Body Question

The throttle body housing/shaft on my '92 LT1 is badly worn. The General wants an arm and a leg for a new TB. I am contemplating putting an aftermarket TB on simply because they are less expensive. I know a larger TB will not produce any extra horsepower without doing some head work and installing a hi-lift cam. My questions are: 1. will there be any adverse effects by going to a 52mm TB but not making any other changes? 2. Or.... are the stock TB's rebuildable?

Haven't made any decisons/purchases yet.

I know of 3 people rebuilding stock TB's. They bore them to 52mm and install sealed bearings. David Koldos(ebay), Horespower Guy (ebay) and Korvette4U (member). Around $175

I've heard lots of good things about Dave's work - that's the route I'll be going when my time comes...
