The 89, 90 17" wheels WILL fit the C5 front conversion WITHOUT any spacer of any kind. On new pads you have at least 1/4" clearence. I've been running them for almost 2 years on the 89 and 1-1/2" years on the 90. Of course the A molds show more, they're on the 89 but I'm running the stock 17"s on the front and the ZR1s on the 90.

on my 96, the rims are 17.2" !!
1988 rims are 17.0 "
look on the back of the rims, and it says the diameter.
for some reason, GM slightly increased the rim size.
but still use 17" tires.

I got all of my parts from Superior Chevy. I dealt with Chris. They had the best pricing.

Used here off the forum or Ebay. Best price for sure. I did my whole swap for $400 bucks.

If that's the case, I'll have to consider upgrading to one, and can run any size rotor as long as it's the same thickness..
