Default C5 brakes for C4

Does anyone know if the C5 Z06 calipers and rotors will fit on a 1990 C4?

Look up Ed Salinas on this forum. He produces a super adaptor bracket that is well made and fits beautifully. Furhtermore, it is fairly priced.

I just finished the conversion on my 88 and it took about an hour and a half.

Rears are no bigger so its not really worth it to change them.

Most people just upgrade the fronts.

Rear C5 brakes arent really going to help.

Although you could take your fronts and put them on the rear if you made the bracket. You'll probably lose the parking brake however.

I know the size isn't any different. What I am wanting to do is replace the rotors and calipers all around, and GMDirect has C5 Z06 calipers and cross drilled rotors at a very decent price. I was hoping that they would be a direct replacement, or some minor modifcations could be done.

There are a couple of sites that sell the rear adaptors, but the rear adaptors are EXPENSIVE!!! (Front adaptors from Ed, mentioned above are less than $150, rears I have seen run over $300 and you lose your e-brake). At that cost, I would paint the rears and get rotors to match the front. Or, you can do what I did, upgrade the C4 to a Z06.

When you consider the cost of taking a design to a machinist, and having them knock two out, Ed's prices are more than fair. And you don't have to design it either.

Another happy Ed customer here. His brackets are working great on my '85.

Now thats an idea. YOu mean the old C4 fronts moved to the rear with the new C5er on the front.....Would it be possible? With a bias spring that could really make for some stopping power at a good price indeed!

I have C5 fronts and stock C4 rears on my 93. It stops the same as my Z06 in every way. Great setup for the street or track with the right pads

Have you tried the DRM bias spring? I have C5 calipers ready to go on and was wondering if it actually helped.
