I just got my 2nd 95' coupe. When I bought the car there was no remote transmitter. I ordered one from my local Chevrolet dealer ( $118.00 ) I have tried to program it and so far no luck. I followed the instructions in the book and also those that came with the transmitter, ( both the same ) When I got the car, the PKE light on the Drivers info center stayed on all the time. Now it turns off when when the car key is out , but is on when the car is running. It will not unlock the doors or the hatch with the buttons either. Is there some other way or do I have a bad reciever. Also how can I test the transmitter to make sure it is good ? Where is the reciever located in the car? Any ideas that will save me from $100.00 an hour shop cost would be appreciated. Thanks
Search the forum, you will find a lot of threads on various PKE problems.
Do you have the Helms shop manual? If you do section 9k has detailed trouble shooting (flow charts) on the PKE.
To answer one of your questions the reciever is in the dash below the chime/alarm module.
Here are the DTCs
12 Receiver memory bad
13 Transmitter not in range
14 Non-valid treansmitter received
15 Valid transmitter received
16 Passenger door button depressed
17 Hatch button depressed.
Good luck,
Mike
