BTW Morley, I checked on those SLP injectors and found the message you indicated. Then i did a parts search for L98 parts and came up with the same P/N (23051) at the same price ($99.95) without the caution message....lol. So these are looking like a prime candidate right now.
Does anyone run these SLP injectors on an L98 Vette?
65ZO1 I'm driving a 1988 Met. Red Coupe. stock motor, 85k miles.
I'd like to get some input on their performance before I install them too! I seem to recall some input on the forum about them last year, but don't remember if it was okay or not.
If this is the first time your runners have been off you likely should replace the upper & lower runner gaskets and maybe the TB gasket.
Since mine are on/off regularly I'll likely reuse my gaskets. The injectors (SLP) show that they come with O-rings on each end so those are not an issue.
Since I pull and buff my fuel rail each time I always have to use some rubber tubing and hose clamps to loop between the two fuel lines. Otherwise those damn things ALWAYS insist on emptying my tank on the front of my engine.
This is an interesting discussion....I have a mostly stock '90 coupe and have been weighing the pros and cons of upgrading the injectors. I'd appreciate some input about the benefits of such a swap.
Jim, if you're considering the FMS injectors there is (or at least was) a guy who sells them on Ebay for $150 plus shipping. I'll see if I can locate one of his auctions.
I have the LS1 take outs from SLP. I took a steak knife and cut the groove for the clips. The factory groove on them does not go all the wway around so you just have to complete it. They had no gas smell so I don't think they had ever been run. Working good for 16 months so far.
Those SLP LS1 pulls are looking very attractive at $112 to my door.
If indeed the retainer clip groove is the only issue with them I'll cut the order today.
My reason for going with new injectors is a nagging lean condition at WOT. I've replaced the fuel pump and have solid pressure, with only a slight dip just after going to WOT, so I'm looking at the injectors as the problem cause. At ~$100 for a set of 8 injecors it's a trade off between going new or sending the OEM set to Rich; and going with the new will mean no real down time.
bark3711, unless you are having fuel delivery or leaking problems there is no reason to "upgrade" from your stock injectors with only minor mods. It is better to install an AFPR and adjust fuel pressure for optimum fuel delivery at WOT.
