Default dead battery

I left the interior lights on one night. The battery got drained. I left the battery dead for about a week until i had time to jump start the car.
Are there any bad effects for leaving the battery dead for a week??

It's not good for the battery to be drained down to zero, but you should be allright. This happens to me about every 4 months and so far the battery has still held up.

Recharge the battery and have it load tested.

Lead acid batteries should be recharged as soon as possible after they have been discharged because lead sulphate collects on the plates and lead sulphate is a good insulator. A fully sulphated battery is a door stop and it will not draw current when a charger is attached. Also, merely jumping the battery to start the car does not charge the battery back up and running the engine for 1/2 hour does not charge it very much either and heats the alternator which shortens its life. Charge your battery up for at least 24 hours with a battery charger. If the charger shows charging current then you haven't hurt your battery much. In the future don't let your battery sit discharged, charge it back up as soon as you find it discharged.

It's probably toast. Go get it load tested AFTER it is charged up.

Don't try to recharge it with the alternator or you are likely to toast the alternator too.
