Compression Closing The Plug Gap
Back in my Ford days, I built a 351C to go in an old Mustang. Everything in the motor was mic'd at least twice. The heads I was using had a large combustion chamber and I wanted to end up with a compression ratio around 10.5:1 so I used a SERIOUSLY domed piston to make up for the large chambers.
In a nutshell, I ran into the same problem. (I noticed this when turning over the motor by hand, though...) Everytime a piston would come up, it would close the gap on the plug.
There happened to be a Yamaha Enduro in the shop with me, and after pulling one of it's plugs, I was lucky enought o find that it was basically the same plug, but with a much shorter head. I ended up running those.
