Default Relocating 89 ECM

Could this be relocated to the underhood area like the later model C4's?

I was thinking of deleting the breadbox and putting the ECM in it's place but having it covered so it wouldn't look stupid. My mechanic said that the ECM gets pretty darn hot so maybe splice a little ac vent to it as well if it would be possible to have in the breadbox area.

Anyone have any specs of the whole breadbox area and spacing behind it?

The later cars used a sealed ECM with weatherpak connectors. Your ECM is not sealed and maybe subject to corrosion if placed outside under the hood. And it may not like the under hood temperatures as well. The later ECMs also had hardened devices that had much higher temperature ratings. Your ECM is rated to handle temperatures that may seem hot by touch. I beleive their rating was to 85 deg C which is pretty hot The newer ECMs are rated to 125 deg C, this is the SAE temperature standard for automotive rated semiconductors.

Default no need to move ecm

the breadbox can be removed without moving the ecm. the ecm is behind the dash and does not get in the way of the breadbox.

I knew the breadbox could be removed, but I was thinking of relocating it to the breadbox area so chip removal/installation would be much easier.

Like if I could replace the breadbox with a compartment that would contain the ECM and be easily accessible.
