I must agree about leaving a mechanical gauge on the Schraeder valve.
I had the Accel gauge on till a dyno operator pointed out one day that the gauge was 1/2 full of fuel. Sure it was very convenient..up to that poiint. Now I just use the flex hose one from AutoZone.

With that said, I just use a FP gauge on a 3' rubber line that you screw on, set the pressure, and then remove.
Except maybe on a radical pure drag car where frequent adjustments might be made. It's very easy to hook up a temporary gauge when needed.
