Central......If you'll get me an address, I'll send you a copy of the sheet for hosting here.

I put another thread out about the plug/wire issue. The guy who did the pull told me that's what's causing the erratic power curve, so this weekend I'm going to replace them. He said they regularly see another 5 hp with just a plug and wire change.

Once the sheets up, you'll note a slight dip in torque at about 3000 rpm. I'm not sure what's causing it, but the guy who did the pull seemed to feel that the knock sensor might be picking something up in that range and retarding the timing temporarily. I don't know if replacing the wires and plugs will help, but I'm hoping so. I'll just have to see what it looks like on another run. If anyone has any suggestions here, I'd appreciate hearing them.

As for subsequent dyno runs, I'll do it, but not real soon. At $75 a pop, this can add up, and I'd rather wait till someone has a dyno day where it's only $45.

I'm a numbers guy by trade, so I look at things statistically. And until I can see a hard, proven reason not to believe the numbers, I'll acknowledge their possible validity till something disproves them. That's not to say I won't question them, cuz some of you have given me reason to do so because of your own experiences. But I'm going to keep an open mind to the possibility that the numbers are valid as well.

JET, make an honest effort Alvin I can sure tell you a couple good stories about them people! Example number one: Custom chip for a blower application in a 89 L98 C4, customer paid $450. I read the chip compared the file to the stock chip. I found the timing was jacked up 4 degrees across the board, no increase in PE fuel, fan temps lowered. No other mods found. This car detonated, had poor fuel economy and didn't perform nearly to what it should have.

Example number two: In 1999 customer (me) paid $800 to have a 454 truck Vortec PCM "custom programmed" for a 502 GMPP crate engine. PCM came back, truck ran the same absolutely no improvement. PCM went back three times, on the third try the AC didn't even work I reflashed with stock GM file, demanded refund. They said to return PCM (at my expense) so they could check it to make sure their intellectual property was really gone in the PCM before they would refund my money. After that it took two letters from my lawyer to collect!

JET make a honest effort?.....maybe but not in my books.

I just got off the phone with a guy named Jeff there, and he said they aren't having one this coming weekend. They had one the previous two weekends, but not this coming weekend.

I meant the generic off the shelf ers

They seemed much better than the 2 degrees global that hypertech seems to think works.

I agree the custom stuff is a fraud

From what I have read the Hypertech can give a slight HP/Torque increase due to a change in how the PCM maintains the Air/Fuel ratio but that it is short lived. The PCM will always revert back to the 14.7:1 air fuel ratio. If this is true then a slight gain is probable but not repeatable. I also wonder if the engine running cooler is reducing internal friction and freeing up more of the HP/Torque that already existed.
