i know a lot of ppl here have done this so this should be an easy question. i was working on my car yesterday and was looking things over for when i do my camswap down the road and cant help but wonder if you have to pull the engine to do the cam swap because if you pull the radiator and everything to be able to get everything off to take the timing cover off it looks like if you try and pull the cam out you will hit that cross member. how can u guys jack the engine up that much to tilt it with the tranny still attached? what is the exact proceedure? anyone have any pics? i know theres a lot of you out there that know exactly what to do. please help fill me in

It's not hard at all.
Get under your car and look, Under the motor mounts (In the frame) there are 2 bolts. One on each side which hold the motor mounts in place.
There was enough thread on both of my bolts that I loosened them to the ends of the bolt, (I didn't take the nut off cause I didn't want it to misalign itself)
Put my floor jack (with a block of wood) under the bellhousing (my oil pan was off) and lifted slowly.
The motor started rising up the inch I needed to get the cam out.
Once I put the new cam in I let the motor down and retightend both of these bolts. This was the only part of the cam swap I needed the motor jacked up for. (Well it also helps when you re-install the oil pan if you take it completly off)
is there a write up on it with pics? i was a member of the GS registry and i was told they had a ncie write up but my membership ran out. can anyone post this one?
