Well, I finally got a break from work, 4 day weekend. So, it's time to do the cam upgrade. Have already ordered and recieved most of the parts. Just need to get out in the garage and get started.
Oh, I'm installing a Comp Cams custom grind from CNC Cylinder Heads, and doing the 95/96 opti upgrade.

Good luck. Its quite a project. I'm glad mine is done.
Oh on the new opti when you are installing it be sure to keep one finger on the little rotr itself. It will try to spin on you very easily making it misaligned. This was my only screw-up during my install.

Good luck buddy. Hope it gives you more power but ok emissions. Let us know in a few months when you (inevitably) dyno it.

If your upgrading optis, I hope you planned for a new cam gear setup and front cover. They have to be changed as well. I got the Cloyes double roller and the '95 front cover on mine.

Hope the swap goes well. I may have to hook up with you on another dyno session. I just installed the EM headers (installation of extensions sucked with A4). But I think I gained a little pep. N2O may like it as well.
Well, the car is almost back together. The camshaft install the second time around sure is easier.
I still need to get some valve spring measurements, and decide which rocker ration I am going to run. If I stick with my current 1.6 ratio, this camshaft is going to have some crazy lift.

Are you running stock pistons and valves? I ask because if you are running stock pistons and larger vlaves you run the risk of hitting the valves agains the pistons with that much lift. I had an LT4 that did exactly that when I was running about .580" lift, but only because I was using oversize 2.055 intake vavles that did not fit into the valve reliefs cut into the pistons. Something to think about!
