Code 36= Mass airflow burnoff circuit fault. The most likely suspect is the MAF burnoff relay.

it is located directly behind the battery, mounted on the firewall. there are two of them mounted there, i forget which one is the MAF burn off relay. let me know if you can't figure out which one it is, i'll check my Helms manual for the info.

I do know where they are located at but I do think the numbers are the same.one is mounted on a bracket the other on the same bracket on the firewall.I did check they are both the same number top number 7040 bottom 14089936.

Thanks for all your help

If I need to replace them where is the best place to buy then. Auto Zone or the like.

Yeah, the relays are identical. Most any auto parts store will have them.

The MAF relay is always energized when the engine is running..the coil can burn out from all those years of use.
It can also get carbon/corrosion built up on the contacts.

You should have disconnected battery when you installed relays. If you didn't, disconnect neg cable for about a minute or so and it will clear the stored codes. That way, if you have any further problems and you jump the ALDL only new codes will show up.

Or just wait till you've started the car 50 times and they are dropped out of memory.
