Corvrtte Kid, okies93,

I value your opinions, and I will make a few posts along the way, this engine build wil probably take me awhile.
Will try and post a few picks of the head porting and the engine as I accomplish things. I need to figure out how to post pics...

Gentlemen,
I am trying to by main and rod bearings, and piston rings (I am using the stock pistons and connecting rods and crank).
I am overwhelmed with choices, soooo, advice please,
How about,
Clevite Main and Rod bearings, pn CB663P and MS909P?
I see earlier in this thread somone recomended cast piston rings if I am using the stock pistons but there was no brand mentioned. Could somebody recomend a brand or even a part number?

I got a hotcam from a forum member, what a great guy, it was a fine transaction.

Also does anybody think a high volume oil pump is necessary? I also remember somone posted something about a "melonized gear", I wnder if that was the drive gear on the oil pump shaft, does anybody know?

I almost have the porting on the heads done, what a PITA.
Will post pics when I figure out how.

Thanks for the adice to all that have responded, and those who may, I am sure I will need more before this project is finished.

I can't tell you about main and rod bearings but any competent parts shop should be able to tell you. As for the distributor gear you should just buy a complete LT1 oil pump drive unit from the dealer. It comes as a complete unit, new gear and all. I wouldn't mess around with just replacing the gear as the units bearings maybe worn out as well.

For pistons get a set of Keith Black/silvolite replacements. Or you can get a set of JE/SRP forged replacement flat tops for a standard .030 350 oversize. That is the best OE replacement but would cost a bit more, but would give you a more durable piston.
