Has anyone gone dry sump in their c4?
Where did you put the tank?
did you have enough room for the drive mandrel?
Or did you use a camdrive style like a sprint car?
Used Nextel stuff is cheap, and high quality.
Drysump pan(stainless) -$325 with hoses/fittings
5/6 stage pump - $450-500
3-4 gallon tank with heater $325
Via ebay. I have been watching these go thru for a month now and this seems to be the average selling/buy it now price.
A 6 stage will give me
4 for the pan
1 for the turbo
1 for pressure.
Some people claim a 6 stage with 2 1/4 scavenge sections will make crankcase vacuum. I have no Idea as Ive never owned one.
maybe get a vacuum pump as well on a a/c clutch. That way it would only activate under boost and save wear on it.

There's a guy over in the racing section with a track only C4 that runs one. Getting the pump mounted was a real PITA. Doing it on a street car would be even worse. Great idea though. You could mount the turbos down low.
you could mout the tank in the back! as for the pump, i think a four stage would do fine (three sucking and one preusre). as for the presure thing, i know the BTCC guys over here used to run their 4 stage pumps at more than twice engine speed (!) and the limters where at 8500rpm!!! running a 4 stage faster may get around the space issue a little. i would also include a pretty big oil cooler in there to!
so all in all, go for it!
thanks Chris.
PS. the Procker 996 turbo has run a dry sump for ages now. so it can be done on road cars!

Porsche 911,930.964,993,996 engines are all dry sump. They lowered the motors in the chassis for better handling. 993's had to add a baffle for racing actually or they would starve. Porsche offered the upgrade kit but using it in racing would void the warranty.
I bought a 3 stage "dyno time only" Katech pan from ebay for $40.!
The deals are out there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ay_Pr4_PcY_BID
like that one.
What do you guys think, 3 gallon, 4?, 2 1/2? I think Im gonna mount the tank in the rear compartment.
It's lookin like a weaver 5 stage as well.

I seen a dry sump system on an 96 CE once, here in town, about 4 years ago. Only seen it that one time. It was a pretty slick setup. The tank was back by the gastank.
