Default pcv question

i took my air filter out to clean it (k&n) and while i was there i took the intake boots off and the maf ? off to check my throttle body for dirt and noticed it was coated with oil, all around the throttle blades and inside the intake rubber boots. so i pulled the pass side cover off to check the pcv and it just has a plastic 90 going to a plastic hose that goes to the throttle body. it was full of oil...... what stops oil from getting sucked into the throttle body? is the 90 degree fitting in the pass valve cover supposed to be a pcv with a checkvalve? mine is just a open hollow 90 degree fitting.

There should be oil baffles in the valve covers. Are yours aftermarket by chance? And no, there is no PCV valve on the passenger side, only the driver side. The passenger side is a breather that goes to the throttle body.

Normal.

The PCV valve on our '96s is on the driver's side of the intake manifold.

The hose on the passanger side is the fresh air supply for the pcv system. Some oil in there is normal, but excessive oil could indicate excessive blow-by. Do check the pcv on the drivers side of the manifold to be sure it isn't cloged, which it probably isn't. Good luck!
