After a day on the track I now can't get the car in reverse with engine on or off.. Will go in all other 6 gears engine on or off. Has a B&M Shifter, new clutch ,pressure plate, throwout bearing, clutch fork, clutch master clyinder. I was having trouble getting into any gear unless the engine was off before putting in the new parts. Is there an adjustment on the B&M. I was informed that the B&M has a spring setup for reverse. I haven't looked yet but is it possible the spring could come out or fail. OR what else should I check???
The B&M does have a spring mechanism, but it acts more as a bump stop to prevent you from going too far right and snagging reverse while agressively shifting. Have you bled your clutch recently? After my clutch install (included cylinder replacement) it was difficult to shift with the engine running. If you can find reverse with engine off I would suspect clutch hydraulics.
However, if you absolutely can't get into reverse with engine off, then I would suspect the B&M or something internal to the tranny. It's not too hard to remove the trim panel from the console and the lower rubber boot to scope out the B&M. You should see a rod on the right side backed by a spring. If this finger has somehow slipped out too far it might not allow you to move the shifter far enough right to find reverse.
