Just get an impact gun with about 180psi and let that baby smack it for about five minutes like garages do.
I go 80 myself, 100 feels like it's sinking the nut way into the aluminum sawblabes. If the wheels falls off at 80 it's going to fall off at 100, JMHO

With my "clicker" type torque wrench, I was surprised how loose 100 ft.lbs is. When i'd do it by hand, i'd go significantly tighter than 100 just using feel and how tight I thought it should be.

100 ft/lbs - It's based on the lug diameter and thread pitch.
I keep the threads lightly lubed with wheel bearing grease. Helps to ensure the torque consistency and prevents thread galling.

I use a very light coat of anti-sieze on the lug threads. I had read that depending on the fastener, a grease or oil coating can change the torque value.
I tighten my lugs in three steps to 100 ft-lbs: 50, then 70 then 100 ft-lbs.

I have never put a torque wrench on a lug nut. I have not had a wheel fall off yet. I guess I'm just lucky.

Torquing the lugs evenly helps to keep rotors from warping. If one or two lugs are way too tight, the rotors can warp if they go thru cycles of extreme heat and cooldown.

I would advise checking the GM manual to see if that 100 ft-lb spec was with lubricated parts or "dry". The difference can be very great and could result in overtighting.

On the Vette, always.
100lbs on wheels,
80lbs for the spare.
