have a 90 vette and am having a problem with the electronics, get an error code 43 on scan and 42 on the cpu replaced EGR and module but still having the problem KNOW ANYONE THAT HAS THE FIX OR AT LEAST WHAT TO LOOK FOR NOW?
A SLOW REAL SLOW VETTE RIGHT NOW
ALL HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS ALL
Code 42 is the EST (?) circuit. It will set if you disconnect the single lead connector to set base timing (should be taped outside the harness in the brake booster area).
Code 43 is the knock sensor circuit. Could be a shorted lead or bad sensor.
Wanna sell your new EGR parts cheap?? Just kidding, but I did get a code 32 last week, but it had no effect on performance. I did nothing but clear code and it hasn't returned.
thanks, not being a mechanic I have to research and on the hand held scanner they told me it was an EGR problem, but the found some module in distributor and some other thing that they had to pull the shaft and reinstall so it worked so far, let's see later tonight if it keeps on working. Thanks to you and all responders for the help.BJG
finding out the right meanings of the codes was made possible by all the feedback you all gave.It turned out to be the pickup module on the dist was real bad had no coating left and was shorting out, was replaced and reset and all is running great (right now) Thanks one and all for your help.
