Hey guys... I have a 95 lt1 stock 6 speed vert... It's not that noticable but it kinda runs a little rough until it gets up to operating temp. When the car is warm when idling it dosn't even feel like it's running. The car has 72000 i brought it with 56000, so i don't know if it was ever tuned up. Just wondering if it needs a tune up. Thanx fellas
I am by no means an expert on this. I got my C4 at 53000 miles and now it has 58000. when I first got it the idle was rough at all conditions of engine temp. I replaced the fuel filter, Opti, plugs, wires, cleaned out TBI, replaced air filter and cleaned up the IAC (idle controller). Also ran with several Lucas fuel additive fill ups to clean up the injectors. the idle is much improved but not 100% smooth. i have no problems accelerating, plenty of power. I think the only thing I can do would be to replace the injectors , but things are ok as is for me now.
with respect to your situation relative to a rough idle until engine warm, I always thought an engine might run rough when colder, but sounds like you are noticing a change from initial experiences with the car. In any event, i would make sure you replace the fuel filter, and consider cleaning up the TB (throttle body inlet); Lucas fuel injector cleaner is well recommended and may help clean out your injectors. Not sure what Temp may have on any of this, but worth a try.
Pls post if you find out what it is caused by. thanks. Hopefully some others will read this and comment. good luck.
I just got my 90 back from Corvette Mike's here in California, and it idles real rough when it's cold. It runs like a champ, but doesn't idle very well. I'll be interested if someone has an answer to your question.
