Default Drawbacks to removing factory security sys.

My neighbor has an 85 Vette that he drives very little. He believes his security system (factory) is draining the battery. If I remove the security module, is there anything that wont work besides the security system?

The only battery draws I have found are the ctsy fused circuit and the lcd fused circuit. The LCD circuit seems to draw quite a bit when the car is off. Is this normal?

Thanks for any help.

I have found the same thing with my 87 and recommend that it be solved by disconnecting the battery for long term storge, or, do what most of us do and use a small "float" charger to keep the battery hot. They draw very little electric and can be had for $15 at wally world and even if he dicconnects his battery it needs to be kept alive with this small charger anyway. Regards
