Default Speed Density Cam Selection

I have a question about selecting a cam for 91'

I have heard not to go much above 225 intake @ .050 or it will mess with the speed density to much.

right now I am leaning towards the ZZ-409, but I might be able to go bigger.

I will be having a chip burned when everything is done so thats not really an issue, i just cant find any input on the subject of intake duration and how it messes with the speed density.

The car will be primarily street both get some drag usage as well

Well mine is a 93 LT1 so it would be a little different from the 91 but it is speed density. IMO speed density works great with larger cams. Its just you need someone to tune it that knows speed density cars. You have to change a lot such as the VE tables etc. I used Alvin at www.pcmforless.com and he has done an excellent job. e-mail him with your concerns and get his opinion even if you use someone else to tune it. He is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable on speed density.

Edit. I do want to emphisize the need to get someone qualified in Speed density as it will make a day and night difference in how satisified you will be with your car. I used a person to orig. tune mine who claimed to know what he was doing when in reality he didnt have a clue. Oh well it runs right now. Just do a search on this forum and come to your own conclusions. But dont worry about running a big cam in a speed density car it can and is done all the time.

I talked with Alvin this morning.

He really spelled a lot out for me. What an awesome conversation!

Thanks a million for you input!

I see you are in the 11 sec club, what cam are you running?
