hey fellas..i have a 95 lt1 vert 6 speed..........i was tooling around town today and i noticed that my oil temp was at 244, never been over 235. It's been really humid out, plus i am due for an oil change. I was beating on her a little bit today but it never got this hi before....cooling temp was sitting around 215 -225........thanx guys, stay cool
It was 95 degrees here today, and after getting on my vette for about 30 min. my oil went to 260, coolant stayed in the 215-239 range, but I was in the 4000 rpm range the whole time. 86 4+3 coupe
you can consider (some) 4-cycle oils. While under normal conditions I feel synth is best, I know some "older" Vette owners who also own a Harley as well as the owner/operator of a cycle shop who has been using 4-cycle for years. It's made specifically for temps MUCH higher than standard automotive (water-cooled) applications, doesn't easily break down under hi temps either since it's made specifically for AIR-Cooled engines... just another possibility...

I'm pretty sure my vette has a 4 stroke (cycle) motor, thus I'm already using oil made for a 4 stroke.
Edit: Do you mean 2 stroke oil? I don't think I'd use that as it's made to be mixed with fuel.
