oil wil get hot, and if you have been beating on it, it will get hotter.

As long as the coolant temps stayed where they belong, you have little to fret, as long as you are using synthetic oil!!

If you drive with the AC on down a highway, the oil will cool... but it will take much longer to do so then coolant.

It was 95 degrees here today, and after getting on my vette for about 30 min. my oil went to 260, coolant stayed in the 215-239 range, but I was in the 4000 rpm range the whole time. 86 4+3 coupe

Default Other than Synthetic Oil...

you can consider (some) 4-cycle oils. While under normal conditions I feel synth is best, I know some "older" Vette owners who also own a Harley as well as the owner/operator of a cycle shop who has been using 4-cycle for years. It's made specifically for temps MUCH higher than standard automotive (water-cooled) applications, doesn't easily break down under hi temps either since it's made specifically for AIR-Cooled engines... just another possibility...

I'm pretty sure my vette has a 4 stroke (cycle) motor, thus I'm already using oil made for a 4 stroke.

Edit: Do you mean 2 stroke oil? I don't think I'd use that as it's made to be mixed with fuel.

My oil temp can get to 245 or so in very hot weather and if I am running at lower speeds (like < 50 mph)... good to hear this is not so bad for syn.
