Default Neglected hose douses Optispark

Trying again, already posted this in General . Anyone else gone through the following???? So far the car is starting and running fine, thought I had a big problem this morning.

Well it ran good last night after replacing the hose.. This morning it won't start, but is turning over. Hope it's not the Optispark.

Any suggestions.

The coolant hose to the rt side of the throttle body had blown and guess where the coolant went..

Car finally started , running but not on all cyl.

Well, called up Corvettes of Dallas , Jeff tells me that w/ it being a new opti, so we know the vent hoses are good on it, that hopefully it will dry out w/ time and problem will " go away" . Also said to detach vent hose away from opti and see if I can get anything out, maybe spray a little brake kleen in there to help. ALWAYS GET GREAT SERVICE FROM THOSE GUYS. Even if I tell them I'm probably going to fix it myself. He gives a good break on parts costs as well.

Went back outside, car cranked , idles fine , no problem????????

My wallet hopes that the Texas heat fixed this one for me..!!!!!

I read a post a while back where someone attatched an aquarium air pump to their opti vent hose, and it dried it out.

YOU, are a lucky man, ruf. Let's hope it all holds up.

I don't quite understand the brake kleen spray stuff, but that's because I don't understand what is brake kleen.

I'm going to assume it would wash away the coolant that might have landed there and dry out the Opti. So, in a way it's not too different from alcohol used to dry off water on some parts? That's a question.

If it is a fairly new Opti, the seals should keep the water out. But if some got in the more you run it the vents should dry it out. Good Luck

I would NOT recommend running brake cleaner through your Opti. That sounds like very questionable advice to me.

Be well,

Maybe try some electric motor/parts cleaner. I have some in the garage and I'd go look to see the brand, but I'm about 1.5 hours away right now...

Maybe someone will chime in...

A few weeks ago I had this same problem... twice. Except that I had gotten coolant all over my opti while changing the thermostat . The car wouldn't crank at first (no spark) but then the opti dried out and the car started and eventualy ran fine, althou the second time (wrong thermostat the first time)the car did strand me on the way to work the next morning, towed it back to the shop and the damn thing started right up and ran fine. Haven't had a problem with it (the opti) since and its been 3-4weeks, and its been on 2 big trips from Northern Va to NC then on to Atlanta and back up, like I said no problems. I did however buy a new opti and its on standby in case of any problems, but honestly I'm not expecting any.
Your results may vary of course...

Brake cleaner is basically electrical parts cleaner with a different label on the can. I have been using brake cleaner to clean any and everything since 1971 with absolutely no problems or side effects. Brake cleaner will evaporate after use which makes it ideal to clean the inside of an opti. Sometimes easier to find than electrical parts cleaner!

Default Coil wire???

My baby wouldn't crank again today. Wasn't expecting that!!!! After it had run well the night before. I pulled the coil wire and cleaned the terminal and boot put it back on an Bam! Started right up.. Drove to Autozone for some dielectric grease.

Figure the coolant spilling on it had created alittle corrosion,,maybe,, and hopefully won't be having any more issues...
