Default cleaned engine: problems

I cleaned my engine and now I have; check engine light, ASR/ASR Service lite, and my idle went up to 1400 rpm. I have went into the codes and reset them but light still on and idle still the same. What do you think? Thanks.

Did you take anything off? Did you forget to plug something back up on the air intake?

Yes I did clean engine with water. How else would one do it? I covered connectors and air intake. Engine was in very bad shape, had to do it. I accepted the reality that I might have issues. Now I just need to fix issues. Why did idle increase?

And what were the codes you reset? Did you dry it out with an air hose. Are we talkin LT4 here? Does the engine otherwise run ok? does it mis and backfire?Need more info....

Idle could be cable or idle screw adjustment .Was the engine running correctly before you hosed it?

the only code were H67 and H65 or 63. H should mean history. I have the manuals and these codes seme ierealvent. The car ran great before. Yes it's a LT4. It runs fine other then the high idle. I also have the water pump leak. I have looked for a vaccume line issue but have found none

TPS, if you get them wet they fry and often won't set a code, just cause a high idle or very erratic idle.

Check the TPS and IAC, maybe there is water in the connections.
I wash my motor twice a year. I just blow it off with a leaf blower before I start it.

sounds like you killed the optispark unit, did you jam any rags etc around the opti to soak up any water that may get to it before washing? If not I fear you have drowned the opti and killed it

Everyone hears "water/now runs rough" and condemns the opti. If it isnt setting a low res or high res signal code the opti should be fine. A high or low tps voltage spike will cause asr/abs codes. Dont get me wrong, it could be your opti but I'd get everything dried out really really well first then start looking for codes. Also, if the water pump is leaking it will soon get ruin the opti.

If you get a haynes or chiltons manual it will tell you how to check the TPS voltage with a digital multi meter. It should be .65v at rest/idle and 4.5v at WOT.
